Schengen Visa | Application Checklist

“Lately I have been asked by friends about applying for a Schengen visa to Sweden. I did it last July 2013 and had it posted in my old blog site that I deactivated so I thought posting the write up here will hopefully help anyone who needs some form of guidance. This post is old but I hope nothing much has changed and it can be of any help.”

SCHENGEN VISA – TO VISIT FIANCE/BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND IN SWEDEN.

Questionnaire – I have a detailed post about this, click here.

Cover Letter – Left unchecked. I did not have this because my application was not registered online. I went to the Norweigan embassy to submit my application.

Schengen Visa Application form – should be handwritten by the applicant. I found this very helpful link on how to fill this up. Her purpose is tourism but it should be easy to modify the other information to fit your needs.

One (1) passport sized photo with white background and not older than 6 months – I went to picture city in Ayala Cebu to have my picture taken. Make sure to wear collared shirt and inform the attendant that it should be passport size, not visa size.

Original passport – valid for at least 3 months after departure from Schengen. Please photocopy used page/s if there is any.
Valid passport must have at least 2 unused pages (if approved, the visa will be affixed on said page/s)

Previous passports (for the last 3 years) and past visas/stamps to Schengen and other countries (if there is any) – I just photocopied my Singapore stamp when I went there back in 2010.

Application Fee – I paid for the fee on the day I submitted my application, in cash and exact amount which is 3600 Php.

If currently employed – I submitted my Certificate of Employment stating position, length of service, salary and duration of
approved leave of absence, company ID, and payslips for the last 3 months.

If self-employed – Left this unchecked, not applicable for me

If currently a student – Left this unchecked, not applicable for me

Proof of sufficient funds – Went to the bank and asked for my bank certification. It was fast and I had to pay 100 pesos for it. Also included my payslips for the past 6 months and income tax return document.

Applicant is required to have SEK 450 per day. The requirement can be lessen if he/she already paid the lodging
or boarding in advance or he/she will stay with the inviting person in Sweden.

Note: If the inviting person will financially guarantee the stay, he/she should submit payslips, pension statement,
statement of account for the past three months. – my sponsor/boyfriend sent me his bank certification, salary information and certificate of employment.

Roundtrip Airline Ticket Reservation -(Do not buy the ticket until a visa has been granted) I went to the Grand Hope travel and tours in Ayala Cebu to get a booking confirmation and paid 300 pesos for it.

Travel Medical Insurance – should be valid for all Schengen States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be 30,000 EUR. I bought this at the same agency and for a month of stay in Schengen area, the cost was around 3000 pesos.

Letter of invitation from the sponsor – A letter from my boyfriend stating his intent in inviting me to visit his home country. The letter included the time we spent together, how long we have known each other, his apartment address, his work information and the documents he sent as proof of income.

Form no. 241011 – Invitation – completed and signed by my boyfriend.

Civic registration/family certificate (personbevis) of the inviting person in Sweden – my boyfriend went to the tax office in Sweden to get this.

Copy of the passport of the person inviting – photocopy of his passport and the visa stamps in visiting the Philippines.

Birth Certificates of children – Left unchecked, this is not applicable for me.

Documentation of own means/properties – I left this unchecked.
